Best for laser removal of sun spots, acne scars, dark circles and tattoos. The Spectra Q-switched laser is a short-pulsed laser system that operates primarily at 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths, with pulse durations in the nanosecond range. It is optimal to target pigment in the skin and ink without damaging surrounding skin, making it effective and safe for a variety of dermatologic and cosmetic concerns.
Clinically it is used to treat the following conditions:
1- Skin pigmentation:
It is effective in treating several facial pigmented lesions like sun
spots, café-au-lait macules, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and dark scars. It is the gold standard treatment for the Nevus of Ota, and is used for reducing dark circles.
2- Tattoo Removal:
It targets specific tattoo pigments without damaging the surrounding skin and breaks them into smaller particles, which are subsequently cleared via phagocytosis and lymphatic drainage.
The laser is particularly effective for black and dark blue inks.
3- Skin Rejuvenation and Resurfacing:
The Spectra Peel (carbon laser peel) utilizes a photoenhancer (carbon lotion) combined with Q-switched irradiation to improve skin texture, pore size, fine lines, and photodamage.
It stimulates collagen remodeling and neocollagenesis, contributing to overall Rejuvenation.
There is minimal downtime after treatment, with pigmented lesions expected to darken and peel off in around 10 days. It is better to avoid sun exposure for 1 month after the treatment for optimal results.
