Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, also known as striae, are a form of dermal scarring that can develop when the skin is stretched rapidly. They are commonly associated with pregnancy, weight gain or loss, growth, and hormonal changes.

Treatment aims to improve the texture, colour, and overall appearance of stretch marks by stimulating collagen remodeling within the skin. Depending on the type and stage of the stretch marks, treatment may include laser technology, microneedling, topical retinoids or glycolic acid, and appropriate sun protection.

Laser Treatment for Stretch Marks

Dr. Dany Touma’s approach is tailored according to the stage and characteristics of the stretch marks. For red or early stretch marks, vascular laser treatment may be considered to address the visible redness.

For established stretch marks, Thulium 1940 nm laser technology, including FraxPro, may be incorporated to support collagen remodeling and improve skin texture.

Treatment may involve a series of sessions, with the number and interval determined according to the patient’s skin type, the age and characteristics of the stretch marks, and their response to treatment. Combination protocols may also be considered when clinically appropriate.

A detailed assessment with Dr. Touma and his team helps determine the most appropriate treatment approach for each patient.
