They eyelids have the thinnest skin, and are where aging first shows.
Lasers are the treatment of choice for tightening the eyelids, where no creams, no matter how expensive, seem to work. Traditional laser resurfacing is the most effective, with excellent firming and bleaching, and requires a few days of healing time due to some swelling and redness.
The latest technology to firm the eyelids is non-ablative laser which gently heats the skin in a short session without leaving any mark on the skin. Two to four sessions are usually needed and results are remarkable and often impressive, with a more rested, open eye and firmer skin.
At times, a small amount of filler is injected in the tear trough ( the line between the eyelid and the cheek) to reduce its depth and give a more youthful appearance to the eye.
In every advanced cases of UPPER eyelid laxity, surgery under local anesthesia is recommended for best results.
In most cases LOWER eyelid laxity, Dr Touma prefers the above nonsurgical modalities to avoid rounding the eye.
